How many ML of Redex Engine Flush should I use in my motorcycle oil?

I need to flush the oil in my motorcycle - a yamaha xs250 (1982). It is supposed to hold 2.0 litres of oil usually, without changing the oil filter, so how many ml of Engine Flush should I use?How many ML of Redex Engine Flush should I use in my motorcycle oil?about 500ml thats allHow many ML of Redex Engine Flush should I use in my motorcycle oil?http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/store

Read the instructions on the label.

I want to ask about my oil filter?

ok i change my oil today and the oil was dark black but one thing was the oil filter was not dirty i mean i replace my oil every 3,000 miles and i all ways take the oil filter out and change it but its not dirty the oil filter this is the 3rd time that the oil filter is clean and i know the oil have to go in the oil filter to clean the oil when the engine runs but its clean no dark old oil in the filter is there something wrong with my oil pump how i know if its not working right and its a fram oil filterI want to ask about my oil filter? If your oil pump is not working your car would not run thirty miles, let alone three thousand miles. Yourloil filter looks good because you are changing it every three thousand miles like you are supposed to. Don't worry about it. it might seem clean if you look at it on the outside, but inside the filter is where you would see the stuff the filter is filtering. This has happened to me too.I want to ask about my oil filter?I don't know what kind of car you have, but I would look at the oil filter bypass valve in the oil filter neck. It may be stuck open and allowing oil to bypass the filter.I want to ask about my oil filter?i agree you have a flow issue, the bypass valve is stuck open not allowing oil onto the oil filter once it is filled up. the problem is not necessarily the pump or the filter. depending on what type of car you are driving, the location of this bypass valve can be very easy to get to.

  • How do I know if they..actually changed my oil...?

I had a oil change/filter yesterday at JIFFY LUBE i DONT KNOW TO MUCH ABOUT CARS.... but i read my fuel perceantage on how it was at 44 percent good on my 2008 cobalt LT.... so when i was done geting my oil changed.. I looked at it expecting to see it at 100 percent it wasnt .still at 44 %..so i figured maybe there was still...old oil in the valves... but i went on a trip..150 miles still read 44%at the end when i came home.. and this morning when.. to went to the store the oil still read at 44 percent good..does this mean i was dupped%26gt;%26gt;/? and didnt change the oil..i did drive 150 miles and did expect the oil percentage to be at 100 percent but isnt..?.. or is there a way i can check if they did do the services i paid for..? and how much oil should have put in there.. im thinking they might of have just drained half and put half of what i paid for...reason why it reads 44%?still.. my vehicle is 2008 cobalt lt sedan.

how much liters of oil shoudl have beeen put in? and how do i check the air filter to see if it has been replaced? How do I know if they..actually changed my oil...?No, it just means they didn't reset the computer. To tell if they changed the oil or not, just pull the dipstick and look at the oil on it. Fresh oil is sort of a clear/amber liquid, looks about like honey, just thinner. Old oil will be almost black, like tar (won't be thick like tar, or if it is you got SERIOUS problems). You just need to reset the oil life meter, it tells you how in your car owners manual. Some of them have a button under the dash to push, some use the accelerator pedal, and a few even use the car stereo to reset it. You need to check the oil regardless, just to make sure the Jiffy Lube guys filled it completely. How do I know if they..actually changed my oil...?Here a little trick i learned from an old timer. To find out if your car needs an oil change. Drive it around a bit to let the oil circulate. Take it back to your driveway. Get a white piece paper. Pull your dip stick out and let the oil drip onto the paper. Let it soak up on the paper. The paper acts as filter. If it looks dark with dirty particles change the oil. If it looks somewhat clean and no dirty particles, no oil change needed. How do I know if they..actually changed my oil...?all these new cars that give you a oil life percentage have to be reset. they probably did change your oil, they just forgot to reset your message display. to check your air filter open your hood and look for a black box probably the size of a shoe box there should be a couple of clips to hold the top to the bottom when you un clip them youll be able to see if your air filter is nice and clean. your best bet is to just find a good mechanic that you can trust! How do I know if they..actually changed my oil...?pull out the oil dipstick, you can check the status of your oil, you will see a clear oil..

you will see a clean oil filter if you check under the hood or under the car.

have you try to reset the metering system??How do I know if they..actually changed my oil...?Why don't you call Car Talk on Saturday? They can help!

Call 1-888-CAR-TALK (888-227-8255)How do I know if they..actually changed my oil...?get some body to show you a few things under the hood/check book on how to reset the gauges/i believe its done through the radioHow do I know if they..actually changed my oil...?The oil life indicator that you are talking about, requires that it be reset after an oil change. Apparently they failed to do this and it is not reflecting that the oil has been changed. Pull the dip stick for the oil and look at what is on the stick. It should appear to be clean oil or close to it. If not , return to the place where you had the service done and have them correct the issue and reset the oil life indicator. GM vehicles will reset by following the procedure in the owners manual under maintenance. Good Luck

Can an oil pump get clogged?

on my 97 grand marque i think i have no oil presure. it makes a knocking sound on and off and my mechanic says it may be the oil pump. i havent changed the oil in a while can this cause it to be clogged? if i change the oil and oil filter can this solve the problem for a while? how safe is it to drive? can i do anything to make it more safe to drive till monday? Can an oil pump get clogged?Yes you can have a clogged oil pump screen! And that is a %26quot;regular trademark%26quot; of Ford products about that era! Not changing oil often enough allows the stuff to build up on %26quot;oil screen%26quot;, - which is a fine meshed screen designed to stop large pieces of %26quot;trash from clogging the oil pump internally! My daughter lost an engine in a Topaz (4 cyl) and a Tarus (v-6)! These cars both looked great externally (when she bought them used), but failed within a couple years because they hadn't been taken care of properly!

About all you can do is make sure the oil is filled to proper level.

It is possible to have a garage %26quot;drop the pan%26quot;,- sometimes not an easy task on some cars! Then the oil screen/feed tube can be removed and cleaned out. Even beter would be to have the oil pump replaced, -and have mechanic check bearings at same time to make sure they haven't been severely damaged due to loss of lubrication!m The %26quot;caps%26quot; on the crank and rod bearings can be checked while the pan is off! Possibly you have not driven too far with %26quot;starved%26quot; bearings, - which tends to %26quot;wear%26quot; them excessively. It is possible to wipe out the bearings and ruin the bearing surfaces on crankshaft - which is a vey expensive problem, - so you don't want to put this off very long. I'd guess you can have the pan dropped, screen cleaned, and at least rod bearings checked for around $200, Oil pump could cost you another $50 or so, and replacing bearing %26quot;inserts%26quot;, - maybe a hundred or so more! If crank bad, -it is going to cost you a %26quot;bunch%26quot; as the engine has to be %26quot;torn%26quot; down considerably! Can an oil pump get clogged?Yes, an oil pump can get clogged. You might have some sludge buildup in your motor which can clog up the screen on your oil pump. The problem is that even if you change your oil, the sludge is still there ready to cause the same problems. You need to take it to a mechanic and let him take care of this, there is more involved then a simple oil and filter change. Good luck! Can an oil pump get clogged?make sure you have a good oil level. Sounds like the engine is about to go. Nothing you can do about it now. Changing your oil often will prevent this problem but will not fix it once it happens. Can an oil pump get clogged?yes from cheap oil ,all way's buy a good detergent oilCan an oil pump get clogged?Ford Merc. are known for bad oil pumps not exactly clogged.More like torn gasket or bad drive rod I had to change a few myself. you will destroy your engine if you drive with a bad pump, but if your pump is bad it will be a more constant tap. and a whole lot of tapping they are not to expensive and easy enough to change. if you have had a oil pan gasket changed in the past. the mechanic might of used to much silicone sealant. Now that! can clog the snorkel of the oil pump. Can an oil pump get clogged?yesCan an oil pump get clogged? The oil pump won't get blocked, it will just quit working. But the filter at the oil pump can get blocked. So it could be that. If you are truly getting NO OIL PRESSURE AT ALL, you have to replace the oil pump and oil pump filter. But perhaps your oil guage is wrong? Knocking is caused by too low octane gas, that's all. Yes, i think you'll make it to Monday, but after that, who knows? You not tell us the car, year, make or model. You have to include that stuff to get good answers. And it could be something other than oil pump or octane; could be bad or broken ring. The dirty oil did not cause this.

Perhaps it's time to look for another car.Can an oil pump get clogged?the oil pump has a oil pickup and screen and it can and sometimes does get plugged it can be a big job might want to bring it to a mechanic. not much you can do to help it and it can lock up your engine

Consider drivers side the right side.

With the hood up, on the left side is a plastic box, in it is the air filter.

The plugs are a bit difficult to see :)

To get to them you need to remove the air flow tubing that goes across the engine, then remove the center cover that is on top of the engine. You will see the coils and half your plugs, the others are under the coils. They are deep set and require a wire pulling tool to remove the plug wires.

Note: When removing the air flow tubing be careful not to dislodge the sensors in it, this will cause a multitude of problems.

The oil filter is located at the rear of the engine just to the right of center ... you will see the oil filter cap there and it needs a special tool to remove, it is plastic. Once that is removed you will see the oil filter ( insert ).

    Good luck

I need an oil change, filter replacement and four wheel alignment.. Anyone have a guess on how much this would cost? Or anything else that might need to be done after not having a car serviced for a long time?Does anyone know about how much a tune-up would cost?Your request about an oil %26amp; filter change and a four wheel alignment would cost about $110.00 at any new car dealership. However these two items don't qualify as a %26quot;tune-up%26quot;. These two items are general maintenance.

If you had listed the year make and model of your car we could have nailed the cost of an engine tune-up. Depending on the year make and model you may need ignition wires, (newer cars don't have these nowadays) spark plugs, fuel injector cleaning, throttle body cleaning and an air filter if needed.

Transmission fluid change should be done as per your maintenance book in your glove compartment. Have them peak at your brakes also. If the pads are close to being worn out you'll ruin your brake rotors very soon. These two things are also regarded as general maintenance.Does anyone know about how much a tune-up would cost?oil change and filter about $30, four wheel alignment about $60- $70

Mobil 1 synthetic oil change question....?

I was told by a mechanic that suggested to me %26quot; Buy mobil 1 oil next time you do your oil change...I'll almost guarantee your high mileage engine will smooth right out, and be quiet again. and you never need to do an oil change again...because it's the best synthetic oil you can buy, guaranteed for the life of your car or xxxxxx miles, just change the filter about every three months or so, depending on how often you drive, and you'll be good to go anywhere.%26quot; Does this sound like truth, or is this guy feeding me a line of bull...it's not like he was trying to sell me anything, because he only works in a garage, he doesn't own one. And he's best friends with my Father who was Certified Mechanic by trade for over 40 years. It's not that I don't wan't to believe him...but I never heard of an oil you don't have to change? Please help me with suggestion's on changing the oil of my 1990 Pontiac Sunbird with 2.0L Fuel InjectedMobil 1 synthetic oil change question....?Yeah, if he said you never need to change your oil, keep him away from the car...don't even let him touch your lawnmower hehe.

Mobil 1 is good oil, probably about as good as you're going to get at the typical store shelf. Royal Purple, Redline, Amsoil, etc... are premium, but not worth the investment unless you clean your cylinders with a toothbrush every month.

If you live north of the border, so to speak, it would be worth it in the cold weather to get it. Synthetic oil has a pour point much much lower in temperature than regular oil, which is important because when you start your engine (most of the wear comes from starting it up), you don't want the oil to resemble tar as it tries to get up to lubricate the engine parts.

Other than that, the advantages are there, but rather menial. One of them is that all the molecules in synthetic oil are the same size. In regular oil, despite refining, there will always be a few bigger molecules (which turn to sludge) and a few smaller (which burn off).

If you buy synthetic, be on your toes about it, because synthetic doesn't necessarily mean the man-made stuff. It used to before 1999. Mobil actually filed a lawsuit against another company (I think it was Shell - don't quote me though), because the other company was selling oil labeled synthetic, when it wasn't man-made, but it was refined very well. They ended up losing the lawsuit, and the ruling was that synthetic referred to how the oil was processed rather than the fact it came from the ground or not.

Part of the reason they got away with this is because the refining process has changed over the years. The old-school mechanic, in my experience, actually is the one advocating changing the oil every 3,000 miles like a religion. It's still a good idea, but it's not as crucial as it used to be, because that school of thought was based on the refining methods used from the 30s until about 1990, I believe. They used paraffin waxes and such to separate the crude oil out, but it wasn't perfect, by any means. It still left about a candle's worth of gunk in the oil. In the 90s, there was a hydrogen bubbling process which cut that down by about a factor of 5...and in the late 90s, that process was advanced even further, which made the differences between the well-refined organic oil (Group III oil) and the man-made stuff (Group IV) less discrete. Hence, the lawsuit.

So anyhoo, that's why 3,000 miles isn't as important as it once was...but as good as oil has gotten, you still have to change it. I personally still wouldn't push it past 6,000, less if your driving conditions are rough. There are still chemicals in gasoline, like sulphur, that will react with the oil and some of them even form corrosive materials. Also, just the heat and being squeezed through tiny clearances between the piston and sleeve, etc... break the oil's structure down.

One last thing to consider is the anti-wear additives. Part of the reason an oil can have viscocities we want, like 10w-30, is because there are long chain-like molecules which curl up small when cold, and expand when they're heated, so they prevent the oil thinning out too much. Those will break down eventually no matter what oil you have.

A lot of oil additives, which you should always avoid, have such substances in them, but it's like a cake recipe. Modern oils have them in already in the proper amounts. One example is PTFE, or polytetraflouroethylene, which they don't mention on the bottle is just teflon. Yes, it reduces friction...problem with that is, it's a solid, which clogs filters, builds up on your main bearings and whatever else. Another scam is Lucas oil additive. You'll see the little demonstration in the auto parts store where you turn the gear and it looks like it coats better, which it does, but it does so by getting air into it. At high speeds, as in the car, it froths the oil up and changes it to a light milky color while it goes through your gears, coating better, yes, but with about half the lubricating efficiency. That is why it sometimes makes the engine sound better for a while...it is coating, but at a cost...so just keep wary of that.Mobil 1 synthetic oil change question....?The company that Mobil sued was Castrol. Castrol won. So that means that Castrol Syntec is not synthetic even though they can legally claim it is. Mobil-1 is a true synthetic and so is the original, Amsoil. I use and recommend Amsoil: http://www.amsoil.com/redirect

Mobil 1 synthetic oil change question....?mobil 1 not necessary. just go with any synthetic BLEND designed for high mileage cars. ie Valvoline MaxlifeMobil 1 synthetic oil change question....?no you still have to change to the oil in the car, just not as often,i use it and i change it around 8500 miles ,there's no oil made that will last a life time, that mechanic is wrong, every time you do an oil change also change the filter,i wouldn't go back to him,i don't think id want him working on anything i had, good luck on it.,,,PS Mobil one is a good choice, for oil i haven't has any problems from it since i been using it,good luck.Mobil 1 synthetic oil change question....?Mobile 1 will last much longer between oil changes but even under the best if circumstances I wouldn't run any oil more than 10 thousand miles.

Also keep in mind some engines especially higher mileage ones can't handle synthetic oils, the stuff is much better at working it's way past worn seals and rings. You'll burn it like crazy. Use Castrol High Mileage designed for engines that use oil.Mobil 1 synthetic oil change question....?All I know is, a guy at work had a Chevy S-10 and he would change the filter every 3K miles and add a quart of Mobil 1 oil to replace the oil he lost with the filter change. He had over 220K miles on the engine and it still sounded new. There were no valves ticking or any other bad noises. He did say that he would change all the oil every 25K miles.

It seems to have worked for him, he is a millwright so he knows mechanical things and the lubrication of them.Mobil 1 synthetic oil change question....?when I was traveling a lot for work I used mobil 1...and it actually increased my fuel milage as well as performance. However, you still need to change your oil...I'm thinking mobil 1 is like every 10k miles max....however you still want to change your filter every 4k miles. If you don't drive long distances over the year then I'd reccomend using castrol oil...it's good oil and is much less expensive than the mobil 1. I%26quot;ve been working on cars for many years...and never heard of not changing your oil no matter what oil is used. He may be a friend but he is misinformed on not changing the oil.Mobil 1 synthetic oil change question....?on average, synthetic oil can go about 10,000 miles. the filters can not. they can last about 5000, and that's pushing it.

Mobil 1 is good, but by far NOT the best.

It's easier to buy mobil 1 and find vs. something like royal purple, redline or even Lucas synthetic.

the advice of changing the filter every 3000 is right on, but

there's no reason to switch over to a synthetic with a 1990 car unless you live in extreme heat or cold.

you do have the change the oil. motor oil suspends the contaminents and dirt, and the filter can remove just so much.

it's an old school mechanics myth that you can leave the oil in and just change the filter.

what happens when the oil detergents break down and disappear?

change the oil every 4000 miles and the filter, use a name brand oil, you'll be fine.

Is synthetic oil really worth it?

How often does synthetic oil have to be changed in a toyota pickup?

Someone told me that If I %26quot;run%26quot; synthetic oil all I had to do was change my oil filter/top off my oil every time it was time. Is this true/recommended?Is synthetic oil really worth it?yes its worth the cost, and you still have to change synthetic oil ,you just don't have to change it as often,i use it,and i only change it every 8 thousand miles, and ever who told you it didn't need to be changed just topped off was wrong in this case, all oil has to be changed, with synthetic oil just not as often, its the best oil you can buy right now though and will help keep the engine going a lot longer, good luck with it.Is synthetic oil really worth it?thank you.

Is synthetic oil really worth it?Depends on the Manufacturers recommendation....a lot of synthetic oil is good for thousands and thousands of miles...Is synthetic oil really worth it?Your owners manual spells out oil change intervals - follow that, and be able to prove it, or your warranty may be voided.

Synthetics may offer longer change intervals - you can have oil analysis done to check the chemical and particulate condition of the oil.

Best advice - pick one oil (brand and grade) stick with it, change your oil per the owners manual recommendation - or more frequently. Change the filter every time. The only people I know have had engine failures due to oil tried different kinds of oil or mixed different kinds. Is synthetic oil really worth it?I seriously thought it was good....until I tried it..

It may be good for lubrication..but I had 3 engine seals start leaking.

When I went back to regular oil the leaks stopped. Is synthetic oil really worth it?No change the oil the every 3k or 3 months like always. Never switch oils. If your truck has ever had regular oil in it don't run synthetic threw the engine because the two don't mix, your just creating problems. Neither really has an advantage. Synthetic just sounds like it protects more. I've been discussing diffenent oils in school for the past week. trust me, my instructors are guys who have been in the field for years and are by the book.Is synthetic oil really worth it?Yes, it is worth it. It will decrease engine friction, with a possible small increase in mileage. I wouldn't go more than 5000 max between oil changes though. It is not recommended to go back to regular oil in your engine once you have switched to synthetic. I use it in all my vehicles, and my motorcycle as well.Is synthetic oil really worth it?change it every 5000km's.

it is worth it, its engineered to have all the prefered qualitys mineral oil does not. look it up on the net it is very eye opening. Is synthetic oil really worth it?All depends on the year vehicle you have. Synthetic is good for the newer engines but the older engines say pre '95 Id say no but as for the %26quot;just changing the filter%26quot; that is a lie. Always change the oil when changing the filter

How do I change the fuel & cabin / pollen filters on an '07 Ford庐 F-150? And where are they?

Just got my oil changed at 15000 miles at the dealership and they tried to make me pay $267 for scheduled maintainence! All I could afford was the oil change. Help! How do I change the fuel %26amp; cabin / pollen filters on an '07 Ford庐 F-150? And where are they?Usually that is all you would need for it is an oil change. Unless your engine is running rough i would not change the fuel filter. if you are having problems with allergies when you drive this vehicle then a change of the cabin air filter might be in order . If not then there is no need to.

I am not an expert, however, on a Cavalier 05, with an Ecotec 2.2L the oil filter is at the front of the engine, from above, to the right. It's a blach cap that can be opened with a 1 1/4 inch socket wrench, with extender. The filter just drops in. Good Luck.

I was unsuccessful. 2005 Chevy Cavalier.?the filter is on the top end toward the front of the car on the end next to transmission (Drivers side) just below the intake and behind the radiator. it is a black cover with a 1 1/8%26quot; hex head for a large socket and extension. It has an o-ring seal around it so be careful when re-installing it as to not pinch the o-ring. This system is really nice as the oil drains away from the filter and there really is minimal mess involved. The only thing they could do to make it any better would be to make it so you can reach the drain plug from the top also.Tried to change my oil today. I was unsuccessful. 2005 Chevy Cavalier.?ok , under the car, on the oil pan, you going to see a largen cap,,,, unscreew it an the fitler will be in side of it,Tried to change my oil today. I was unsuccessful. 2005 Chevy Cavalier.?Changing the oil and not the filter is bad unless it was a Napa Gold or WIX filter(actually same filter) and Synthetic oil like Royal Purple. I am assuming it isn't. The owner's manual might show you where the filter is. I have seen the Ecotech insert type filter cap on the front of the engine. It makes it easy to change from the top. I would recommend changing the oil right away and using Wix and Royal Purple. Change the filter every 5,000 miles and the oil every 10,000 miles. You'll get a little boost in mileage and it won't cost more in the long run. You just change less often. Have Fun with it!!Tried to change my oil today. I was unsuccessful. 2005 Chevy Cavalier.?listen to gyroman, and your car will last about 100,000 miles before it's pouring blue smoke out the tailpipe. How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?

i bought this bike and it had no type of manual for it so if someone could tell me what type of oil and oil filter and anything else that might be good to do while changing the oil.How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?I wasn't going to answere this since one the previos poster nailed it but then I saw one say that you can use regular car oil and that is wrong. On a Harley maybe because they have seperate oil for the transmition and the engine but on your bike the oil is used for both so you have to use oil that works for both ie motorcycle oil. This time of year go with 10w30 or 10w40 if you live in a warmer climate. The oil change is the same as a car, remove the plug, drain the oil, change the filter(which is a bit of a pain to remove given the limited access), put the plug back in and add oil. Check the sight glass window with the bike held stright upright not on the sidestand to tell when you have enough oil in it. If you get your oil and filter from a dealership they will be able to tell you exactly how much oil you will need. Get a K%26amp;N oil filter because when it comes time to change your oil next time they have a nut on the end of the filter which makes it much easier to remove and everyone I have talked to says they make better filters too and when you think about the rpms we run these things at getting good oil and filters seems like a good idea. Also if you go with synthetic oil you can change it less since the oil lasts longer once again check with the dealer and see what they say but I always use it and have never had a problem with 5000 mile change increments.

Oil only gets added to the gas on 2 stroke engines and yours is a 4 stoke so don't listen to that one either. How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?take it somewhere if you are asking this explaining itwon't help youHow do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?Start here

LHow do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?Under no circumstances do you ever add oil to the fuel on this model bike. 10W 30 or 15 W40 is what is commonly used on motorcycles. Make sure you use 4 stroke motorcycleoil, not 2 stroke or car oil. They are very different! Your best bet is to go to a Motorcycle Dealer or motorcycle parts store for your oil and filter. They can help you find the right filter. It will cost more than car oil and filters but thats the way things are.

    Why do people that know nothing about the subject chime in with answers that are completely wrong? Oil added to the gas is only for 2 stroke bikes like dirt bikes.How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?So I don't have to re-type, in the search box, search for %26quot;How do I do an oil change on a yzf 600r?%26quot;

The only difference is, the oil drain bolt is on the very bottom of the engine.

The oil level sight glass is below the oil fill cap.

Don't pay attention to the %26quot;only use motorcycle oil%26quot; statement.

After doing research, I found out automotive oil is no different than motorcycle oil.

Just use quality, brand name 4 stroke motor oil.

10w40 in cold weather %26amp; 20w50 in warm weather. How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?I use the regular ol' 10w-40 full synthetic. Works like a beaut and always has. Oil is oil. Buying bike oil is just paying more for the word %26quot;bike%26quot;. 10w-40 is never stocked as fully as the more popular weights, but I've always been able to find it at any gas station, auto parts store, etc.

DEFINITELY make sure the bike is vertical when you check the oil level. If you don't have a center stand, prop it against a wall (with a blanket in between if you baby it) or get a friend to hold it straight while you check the window. Too much oil can cause as much damage as not enough. How do i change the oil on a 2005 kawasaki ninja zx-6r 636?the oil should be added to the fuel

Honda civic 2002 LX transmission fluid change and fuel filter?

I'm not a mechanic by any means...I'm good with changing oil, brake pads, spark plugs, some belts and could do an alternator....but I'm not certain if I should try the transmission fluid or take it to a garage???? Also, I looked in my Haynes book and seems like the fuel filter sits on top of the fuel tank and I will have to go back and look but I think I remember reading something about a hatch under the back seat to change the fuel filter so you don't have to drop the tank. Anyone ever try these two things and how difficult would it be??Honda civic 2002 LX transmission fluid change and fuel filter?Personally, I don't think a 2002 needs a gas filter change. I wouldn't bother.

As for transmission fluid, I would change it at about the 75,000 mile mark.

First, purchase only fluid made for that vehicle from the dealer - don't buy a generic substitute at the auto store! The Honda's are very fussy about the fluid. I wouldn't take a chance on ruining the trans by buying a cheap replacement fluid.

It is very easy to change it. Just put a catch pan under the trans and remove the plug to drain the fluid. It is true that you will not drain 100% of the fluid this way, but replacing 80% of it gives your trans mostly new fluid in it. This is what I do. The service stations try to sell you a flushing of the system, but it is expensive (they have to pay for the expensive machine).

If you are really concerned about getting all of the old fluid out you can flush it yourself. Here's how: Buy twice the amount of fluid (8 containers instead of 4). Find the trans inlet cooling tube on the bottom of the radiator and crack it open to allow fluid to escape. Start the car and let it idle while filling with new fluid. When you think half of the fluid has been passed through, secure the cooling tube and top off the fluid. It's still a lot cheaper than having a flush done.Honda civic 2002 LX transmission fluid change and fuel filter?if you don't know how to change it, take it to mavis tires or somewhereHonda civic 2002 LX transmission fluid change and fuel filter?alot of times with a 'drain and fill' method for switching up ur tranny fluid, you will only end up replacing about 50-75% of the fluid, is your trans auto or manual? If it's an auto, I would reccomend just bringing it into a quick lube shop, most of them have t-tec machines that go straight into the dipstick hole, and will replace 100% of the trans fluid. Also, for your fuel filter, I can't remember if the 2002's still have the fuel filter located under the hood by the firewall, if your FF is there, it is an extremely easy job to do, you will just need some open box end wrenches, and vice gripsHonda civic 2002 LX transmission fluid change and fuel filter?dude dont do it your self, tranny is something you dont wanna mess with, unless you have money for a new one... I think you have to blow and flush all the fluid out b4 you put in the new one, its not like changing motor oil so just take it to the dealer so you have the warranty on it aswell

  • How often to change oil in old Pontiac that isn't driven much?

My grandma drives a 1994 Grand Prix with about 113k miles on it. She doesn't drive much (maybe 5-6k/yr) so she doesn't change the oil much. However, the car must leak or burn oil b/c I check it once in awhile %26amp; it's almost always low. For example, she got an oil change back in April %26amp; has driven about 2k mi since then - I just checked %26amp; it was almost a quart low.

I'm not an expert, but it seems she should change her oil more frequently b/c even if I add oil (which I do) the filter will still be dirty - right? It seems like if there isn't enough oil for a period of time the oil %26amp; filter will get gunked up more quickly than usual. I would like to know what to tell her %26amp; it would help to get an expert opinion! I guess I should also note that we live in an urban area %26amp; probably 60% of the driving is in town. Thanks very much! How often to change oil in old Pontiac that isn't driven much?Considering her driving, I would suggest an oil and filter change every six months, regardless of mileage. How often to change oil in old Pontiac that isn't driven much?Every 5 - 6 K miles. How often to change oil in old Pontiac that isn't driven much?JUST CHANGE IT EVERY 2 YEARS

Oil change on a 2005 volkswagen jetta?

i was wondering if someone could tell me how hard it is to change the oil and oil filter on a 2005 v. w. jetta the new body style. I HAD A 2002 JETTA which i changed the oil frequently with no problems just wondering how difficult the 05 will be. How do you desassemble the oil filter gide pin from a 2001 toyota corolla?

i was changing the oil to my 2001 toyota corolla and when i went to put buck on the oil filter one of the treads got damage and i did put the oil filter back but it went in side ways. i tightended good but still dripping a little drops of oil.

thanks. How do you desassemble the oil filter gide pin from a 2001 toyota corolla?First off, get a new one ready, then take out the oil filter and you should be able to twist it out using a wrench. Be more careful with the new one and use a new oil filter

Oil change interval...How long between changes?

I have a 1994 Geo Prizm with the 1.6 L four cylinder engine.

It has 198,000 miles on it.

I have been changing the oil and filter every 3,000 miles since I got it (at about 180,000 miles).

At every oil change, I use Castrol GTX High Mileage 5W-30 and a Fram Tough Guard oil filter.

I decided to check out my owners manual for mileage recommendations. The manual says every 3,750 miles under %26quot;extreme%26quot; conditions and 7,500 miles under %26quot;normal%26quot; conditions.

In the winter, I always let it warm up for at least five minutes before I go anywhere. And probably 75% of my driving is at 70 MPH.

Since this engine has so many miles on it, should I change the oil every 3,000 miles or 3,750 (like what the manual says) or even 4,000 miles?

Thanks!!Oil change interval...How long between changes?-The more often you change the oil, the better lubricated the engine will be and the longer your car will last. 70 MPH in a little 1.6L four cylinder is a lot harder on it than if you were doing that speed in any V6 or even larger 4 cylinder. But then again it sounds like you let it warm up and don't do a lot of city driving. So I would recomend you change it every 3,750 miles. This is at the more often end of the manual, but it is also a high mileage car.Oil change interval...How long between changes?some where between 3000 to 5000 miles best way to do it

doesnt mean you do it just at 3000 miles or 7500 can do it anytime you want or when it looks dirty cleaner the oil longer it last just doing it is what mattersOil change interval...How long between changes?it has high milage so i would stay at every 3000m. keep using your oil, castrol is good for small cars like urs. good at letting your lil car warm up like that to in the winter.gets the oil around . hard starts are bad on carsOil change interval...How long between changes?Like you said most owners manuels say to do it around 3-4 thousand miles or 3-4 months but if I were you I would continue changing it just like you have. You know your car better then anyone else so when you think it needs changing and when its best for you change it.Oil change interval...How long between changes?i would change like you have been but the oil would last longer but to be safe i would do it as you are if you have had no problemsOil change interval...How long between changes?Since your vehicle has so many miles, go up to GTX 10/40, and you only need to let the engine run for 60 seconds for the oil to circulate throughout, I would say since you have always used GTX,... you can go 4,ooo miles between.Oil change interval...How long between changes?Well, extreme conditions would include a lot of stop and go traffic and short trips. If you drive mostly on the highway, let your car warm up, and don't floor it at every stoplight, then you should be able to change your oil closer to 7,500 miles. Just check the dipstick at every fuel fillup. When it starts to look dirty, then would be a good time to change it.Oil change interval...How long between changes?A synthetic or synthetic blend oil may cost two or three times as much as conventional oil, but the oil and filter changes last three times as long (see http://www.mobiloil.com ) under normal driving and engine operating conditions. So you can go 9,000 miles between oil changes and your engine will actually be better protected! The only proviso is on a new car that's under warranty. Then you need to do whatever is required to keep the warranty in force in case there's an engine or transmission failure under warranty. I've been changing my oil and filter every 9,000 miles with Mobil One for 40 years with dozens of old and new cars and have never had an internal engine problem.

I need to know about care maitenance. After how many miles do you change the oil? Brakes? Air filter? Etc..?

I want a good resource. Like an on- line checklist.I need to know about care maitenance. After how many miles do you change the oil? Brakes? Air filter? Etc..?Every 3000 miles you change your oil if regular. If synthetic oil, every 5000 miles.

Every time you change your oil, you should check all the fluid and inspect the vehicle from the bottom. If you live in the country or a place where there is lot of dust...etc, I would change the air filter every three oil changes.

Your car should have a manual with a maintenance charts. You should take a look at if you really want to treat you vehicle good.

By the way, it holds about 8.5 quarts. If my Oil filter is completely sludged up, will my Oil pressure always show in the Bypass range? It is Possible. If my Oil filter is completely sludged up, will my Oil pressure always show in the Bypass range?Have your Jaguar dealer change your engine oil next time and then sleep soundly!!If my Oil filter is completely sludged up, will my Oil pressure always show in the Bypass range?i dont know much about that car but as the car warms up the oil press drops down not climbs up. if i changed the filter i would change the oil too. and how do you know the filter is full of sludge? it could be something else. oil pumps have this spring valve in them that doesnt let the oil press go up a certain psi. if the valve failed then you could have too much press or too little. If my Oil filter is completely sludged up, will my Oil pressure always show in the Bypass range?just do a complete oil change you should be able to find the correct oil filter on www.penzoil.com and your owners manual should show where you filter is located on the car if you have a doubt just take it to the dealers for like 30 bucks to have a oil change doneIf my Oil filter is completely sludged up, will my Oil pressure always show in the Bypass range?ok so your defiantly gunna wanna change your oil filter if it is sludged up. you wanna change your oil filter every time you change your oil and if you go to auto zone or any parts store all you have to do is tell them the make, modle, and year and what part you want and youll get the right one.If my Oil filter is completely sludged up, will my Oil pressure always show in the Bypass range?Usually you should always put the same kind of filter you previously had, if you say you don't think you have the right one try taking a look at the other available filter see if it matches the one you previously had, your oil filter should not be hard to find look under your car and it will be somewhere in the engine bay most likely on the engine i'm guessing it's a simple screw on type. Then look for you oil pan it's usually the very last thing at the bottom of the engine closest to the ground and it will have a bolt on the edge of it. Usually a pretty good size like 17mm or 11/16 drain all the oil in a pan look at the color if the oil it should not be pitch black and mud like. if you think your engine is really sludged up try using an engine flush, it's just a bottle you add to the oil let the car idle for 10-15 mins and then flush the oil and it picks up or dissolves most of the sludge. Remove your filter, put some fresh oil on the rubber gasket of the new one to make sure it's sealed tight and screw it back in, I like to sit the filter down and then do a 3/4 to 1 turn to tighten, then put the oil pan bolt back on refill the engine with fresh oil, you have an inline 6 i believe, so you should need approximately 3.5 to 5 Liters of oil. put it about 3 liters and then check your stick and keep filling checking regularly, make sure you use a good quality oil and filter as it will definitely help your sludge problem, Hope this helps.

Are there any good websites that show step by step instructions to changing a car's oil and oil filter?

I've been taking my car in to be serviced every few months and everytime all they do is change the oil filter and oil and I pay at least $70 for it. Sure, it's nice to have them check everything else (lights, brakes, coolant etc.) but I can do that for free. The only thing is I would like to learn how to change the oil and oil filter on my own. I think it'd be much more efficient for me to do it and with driving a huge tank (02 chevy suburban) that gets 12 mpg on a good day, i need to save every cent possible.

anyway enough with explaining why I would like to learn how to do this, do you know any websites or have any tips for me?

thanks =]Are there any good websites that show step by step instructions to changing a car's oil and oil filter?Changing oil and the oil filter is a very easy thing to do. You will need a oil filter wrench, funnel and something to put the old oil in. First make sure it is on level ground and then find the oil plug to drain it out from, It will be below the engine. You will need a adjustable wrench or socket for this. Take the drain plug out but make sure the bucket is underneath the plug because it will start coming out as soo as it is loose enough. Once you have the plug out let it drain for 5-10 minutes and make sure all the oil is out. After that your gonna want to to take the oil filter off, you will need the oil wrench to losen the filter then you should be able to turn it by hand. There will be a good amount of oil that comes out of this too but not to much. Once the oil filter is out screw the drain plug back in and then tighten it with your wrench so its snug but do not over tighten it. Next you will put your new oil filter on but before you do put some of the old oil on the gasket of the new filter so it seals properly. Once the filter and drain plug and tighten you are done working underneath of the car. The final step is to poor in the new oil. Open up the cap and then you will probably have to use a funnel to poor the new oil in, poor it in slow and take your time so it does not spill out and then you are done. It sounds like a lot but once you do it, it will only take 15 minutes at the most. Have fun and always make sure the new oil fliter and the plug are in before you poor in the new oil because you don't it spilling right back out!Are there any good websites that show step by step instructions to changing a car's oil and oil filter?Cars, trucks and boats/Doityourself.comAre there any good websites that show step by step instructions to changing a car's oil and oil filter?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EA989OnnX

I have a 2nd hand murray lawn tractor %26amp; want to change the oil - (no manual) - looking at the motor, there is what looks like a drain plug bolt at the bottom of the long filler tube where you take the cap off %26amp; check the oil level. I don't see an oil filter. Whats involved in changing the oil, do I just unscrew that metal drain plug, let it all drain out, then refill thru that measurement tube? How much oil %26amp; what grade/viscocity? Anything else I should know on changing this oil? (no filter correct?) Thanks for anyone with experience on these murray 14.5 briggs motors (it is a 2000 model year).Question on oil change- Murray 14.5 ohv briggs Riding Mower? You are correct on the draining and filling. Use 30wt oil and it will take about 3 pints of oil. Don't fill it above the full mark on the dipstick. If there was an oil filter it would be on the same side of the engine as the dipstick and very obvious. Engines that size usually don't have filters. Change the oil every 25 hrs or at the beginning and end of the season.Question on oil change- Murray 14.5 ohv briggs Riding Mower?be carefulQuestion on oil change- Murray 14.5 ohv briggs Riding Mower?i have a 12 hp and you drain like you said no filter 1 qt straight 30 wt oilQuestion on oil change- Murray 14.5 ohv briggs Riding Mower? You are correct on the oil change procedure. Filter Change Gone Very Wrong?

Thanks to anyone that has legal advice on this matter, I'm reverting to this avenue before getting a lawyer involved.

I brought my vehicle into Jiffy Lube for an Oil change a month ago. They recommended that I replace my cabin air filter, so I did. The statement of work that I received from Jiffy Lube states that I received an oil change and also my cabin air filter was replaced. Shortly after my visit to Jiffy Lube, I began hearing loud vibrating noises underneath my glove box. I took my car into my dealer to see what the issue was and they told me that a lever on the Cabin Air Filter compartment was broken off and was rattling around in the blower. This piece controls where the source of air is coming from (either from outside the vehicle, or air within). Needless to say, to repair this costs around $1600.

Does anyone have any advice on how I should proceed with getting Jiffy Lube to pay for the damage? Do you think they will pay? Will my case hold in court? I have contacted the manager at Jiffy Lube and they would like me to bring in my car and inspect it.

Thanks!!Filter Change Gone Very Wrong?Type %26quot;Jiffy Lube Horror Stories%26quot; into google and you'll find tons of people who had problems very similar. 380SL Mercedes Benz 1984 Oil Filter help!?

When I change the oil filter on a Mercedes benz 380 SL, i read somewhere that I have to crank the engine to full oil pressure before starting the car. How do I do this?

Does anyone have a web page or something with a full procedure to change the oil filter?380SL Mercedes Benz 1984 Oil Filter help!?I personally dont think this is nescessary,Ive been a mechanic for 30 years and have only cranked an engine to raise oil pressure when its been totally rebuilt. If your just changing the oil and filter fit the filter and change the oil and start the engine, oil pressure will be up in a few seconds. If you feel uncomfortable with this and want to go by the book youll have to disable the engine firing,to do this you will have to disconnect the king lead from the distributorl or disconnect the low tension circuit from the coil. Then crank the engine untill the light goes out ,reconnect the ignition circuits and start normally. If you need the full procedure i recommend getting a haynes manual.380SL Mercedes Benz 1984 Oil Filter help!?the best way to do this is before fitting the new filter ,fill the new filter up with clean oil .

and start the car but dont rev it ! let the engine tick over until the oil warning light goes out .380SL Mercedes Benz 1984 Oil Filter help!?that is a bs theory. i worked in a lube shop for 14 years, never did that, unless the customer asked me to. and i never had a problem. the theory is this. an engine gets most of its wear due to low oil pressure at start up. after the oil is changed it takes a little bit longer for the engine to develop oil pressure. it does not matter if the ignition system is firing or not, the rings are still going to move in the same fashion.

Has anyone ever changed the transmission oil filter on a 05 Nissan Sentra S 1.8?

I own this car and I tried changing it's automatic transmission oil filter. I was able to drain and remove the pan. I got all the bolts out of the filter, except for one. This one bolt was near the driver's side. I could spin it clockwise or counter-clock wise, but it didn't seem to loosen or tighten. I took it to a jiffy lube, and they too were unable to remove the filter, due to the same bolt. Can anyone tell me, how to remove this bolt?Has anyone ever changed the transmission oil filter on a 05 Nissan Sentra S 1.8?WOW. that bolt has a 10mm nut and washer on top of the valve body. That nut is just spining. I have to worry about just why you thought you needed to change the filter screen. Many Sentras get by with just regular trans drain and fill. Auto Trans Fluid and Filter-When to change?

I bought a 1999 Corolla 4 months ago at 46K miles, this car now has 52K miles. The only service records I was given show regular oil changes. At what mileage should I get the Automatic trans. fluid and filter changed?

(I don't suspect anything wrong, I just want to do all the needed maintenance on schedule. I may keep this car for many, many years. Trans. shifts great, and fluid level stays right where it is supposed to be)

I have the owner's manual, but it does not tell at how many miles it should be changed.Auto Trans Fluid and Filter-When to change?I have over 20 years experience in the automatic transmission arena and I agree with the other respondents that the fluid and filter should be changed every 30 to 50000 miles. However, I caution you not to be taken in by a shop offering to flush your transmission. I have my doubts about where two find the oil sump, im worried incase i drian the tranmission fuel sump by mistake. Also, whats the best advice for change the oil and the oil filter? How to change car oil?after reading your question i have to say....please take it to a garage and spend the $30. How to change car oil?The engine oil sump from where you want to drain the existing engine oil is located directly below the engine block. The drain plug is located at the lowest point of this oil sump

Remove this plug to drain the engine oil onto a container, and re-install the drain plug after that

Re-fill with engine flushing oil, and drive around until the engine is warmed up to normal temperature. Drain off this engine flushing oil, as well, and fix the drain plug back (make sure there is a gasket, if not make a customised one)

Remove the engine oil filter and install new engine oil filter. Re-fill with new engine oil (remember to use the right viscosity grade)

Test drive the car until the engine is warmed up to normal temperature

    Park and check for oil leakage below the car (any leakage need to be rectified immediately before any long distance driving) How to change car oil?1.Un-do sump plug on %26quot;The Sump%26quot;

7.Lubricate rubber oil seal on oil filter.

    8.Re-screw oil filter correctly.

9.Replace sump plug to correct Tourque setting normally 15-20NM.

10.Re-fill oil with correct oil grade in car manual.

    --------------------------------------?br>
Its so easy its unbelivable, I suggest if you dont know how to do it, go to a garage so they can do it properly, you can have all sorts of problems if you mess this up.How to change car oil?The oil drain plug is located at the underneath of the car. It's a hex nut, pretty much close to the front. You won't miss it. It's a simple as undo the nut and drain out the oil. To replace the oil filter is a bit messy. You need an oil wrench to do the job.

Changing oil yourself is a fun job. You know what you put in and know what your oil looks like after 3000 miles. How to change car oil?the engine drain plug will be under the engine, and the drain plug for the tranny will be on the base of the tranny. Allthough I belive it is front wheel drive and will have a transaxle. My advice would be to locate both plugs or just got to the jiffy lube. You only save a few bucks changing the oil yourself.

Also dont forget the oil filter. A clogged oil filter can cause all sorts of damage. How to change car oil?its simple, on the bottom part of the engine is a big bit of metal, which also looks very hevay!!! - it is!!, - at the back of this big of heavy metal is the drain valve, it will look like a bit like a bolt, - it is!!!, in fact its a 13mm bolt!, unloosen this and all your oil comes out!!!, to put it back in use the dipstick on top of the engine, but remember to put the bolt in first!!!, simple as that, changing the oil filter, however,is another story!!!How to change car oil? This is very simple to do and find. your gonna wanna look for the oil pan that has the oil filter closest to it. when you find that get something to put your oil in. take of the bolt and drain the oil in what you are putting it in. after about 2 mins. take off the oil filter and drain and throw it out. after the oil is all gone put the bolt back on. Then get you new oil filter and get some old oil on the tip of your finger and rub it around the filter's seal. screw it on. then fill it up with your choice oil until it is at the right fill level. Dont worry if you do accidently drain the trans oil. its not gonna hurt it as long as you put new trans oil in. I would say that the best and cheapest oil filter is a Fram and get some gastrol gtx.How to change car oil?Changing oil is a messy job and not worth saving a few bucks by doing it yourself. There are shops that will do it fairly cheap. Be sure %26amp; have the oil filter changed too. It often takes a high quality oil filter removal tool. • How long does synthetic oil last?

I put some synthetic oil in my car a while back and a family member that knows a lot about cars said it would be safe to go 10-15 thousand miles. Is this true? Don't I need to change my oil filter more often than that? How long does synthetic oil last?First and foremost, oil is cheap, engines are not. Never wait that long to change your oil. A big part of it is what kind of driving you do. IF you do alot of short trips and dont fully burn the condensation out of the oil, thats when you start running into problems. If your trips are only about 15 minutes then you should stick to 3000 miles but you could push it a little more if needed. I guess it depends on how long you keep the car. IF you are going to run it into the ground, change the oil every 3 to 4k miles or 4 months which ever comes first but if you are going to trade it off in a year or a couple years, dont worry about letting it get 5k or above miles on an oil change. The most important thing is just to make sure that you have the correct amount of oil in it and not low at all. Its easy to lose a quart or more of oil in 5k miles or more. How long does synthetic oil last?Thank you for the information. I liked in particular your comment:oil is cheap, engines are not!Can find so many applications.

How long does synthetic oil last? There is a lot of debate over the oil change interval, which is now up to 15,000. First there is no argument that a synthetic oil can run longer between oil changes. But how long do you keep a synthetic in you engine, there is no simple answer but if you ask me (and i do this for a living) i'll tell you 6,000miles. while letting your oil go too long can do serious damage, you can't hurt your motor by changing oil frequently. Regardless of how often you change oil you should check its level and top it off with every fill up.

How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter?

If you are using regular oil, then you have to change both oil and oil filter every 3000 miles. You might actually want to get your oil leak fixed, though depending on where the leak actually is, it can become an expensive repair. How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter?adding oil doesn't change the fact that your filter is clogged. once the filter is clogged, the oil will get more and more dirty and do more and more damage to your engine. new oil added to dirty oil becomes dirty oil. change the filter every 3000 - 4000 miles no matter how much oil you add in between. How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter? What Amar D said......and rotate your tires every other oil change. How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter? That's a bad leak, change the filter every 3000 miles or 3 months. And when you do add a quart of Lucas (you can find it at many auto part stores) It will help slow the leak. How much oil can you add to you vehicle befor needing a new oil filter? One: You really need to get that oil leak checked out. Even if it's just a bad seal, it needs repaired. Look to see if there's oil in your antifreeze, if this is where your oil is going then there's a good chance your head gasket is blown.

Two: You should change the filter on the same intervals as an oil change; 3 months or 3,000 miles

How can I tell if my oil pump is going out?

I have an 01 Mitsubishi Galant 4 cylinder and my oil light only comes on when the car has been driven for a while and only when at idle. If I am at a light sitting it flickers and as soon as I start to go it shuts off. Any suggestions? I have changed my oil/filter and all levels are good. How can I tell if my oil pump is going out?If it bothers you check the oil pressure sensor and replace it if it's off. It that doesn't work just keep driving until it burns up.

The reason the pressure goes low is due to excessive wear around the oiled engine parts. Oil is leaking past where it used to just (seep) into. All you can do to fix it is a major overhaul or replace the engine. How can I tell if my oil pump is going out?Well, it sounds like your 8 year old car is starting to show some wear. Check with your own mechanic to be sure, but I'd say unless you are hearing valve chatter, the characteristic %26quot;tick tick tick%26quot; sound at an idle, I wouldn't worry about it too much. You could try a slightly heavier weight oil, if you're using 5-30 you might go to 10-40 for example.

I doubt it's the oil pump, they generally are a %26quot;pass/fail%26quot; thing and either work or don't. And if you had a problem with a dirty pick up screen, it would starve out for oil at any speed, not just at idle. How can I tell if my oil pump is going out?Yeah, just to a straight 40 weight unless you live in a really cold climate. there are oils now for high mileage vehicles that do a good job. they're available at all the auto parts stores. Drive it until the rods start knocking. How can I tell if my oil pump is going out?All ya gotta do is not idle the engine. There, I fixed it fur ya. Ok seriously, everybodies right, except the one about changing the oil press sensor. If you want to verify that the flickering light is in fact accurate you would plumb in a calibrated oil press guage and verify what the oil pressure actually is at idle. Not hard to do and doesn't cost nothing if you have a friend with a guage and the know how to plumb it into your system to do a quick check. How can I tell if my oil pump is going out?Put in thicker oil and keep driving. How can I tell if my oil pump is going out?you can tell alright ! after awhile you will hear a knocking noise if it goes out. if your engine sounds ok then it,s probably the oil pressure sending unit.
